BRATTLEBORO, VT — U.S. Senator Peter Welch (D-Vt.) this week hosted a ‘Common Grounds with Senator Welch’ listening session at Brooks Memorial Library in Brattleboro. Vermonters joined Senator Welch for a discussion about how Washington can work better for the Green Mountain State.
“The pressures on Vermont are the same as those facing every red and blue state across the country—these are shared challenges. But my colleagues across the aisle haven’t embraced the idea that whether you’re from Indiana, or Idaho, or Vermont, the people we represent need an affordable health care system. They need consistency in tax policy. They need to be able to afford a house. I think that’s the biggest impediment to Washington working the way we do here in Vermont, where we try to work together and address our differences to make a stronger community. That needs to change,” said Senator Welch. “I’ll continue bringing Vermont Values to Washington and fight for bipartisan solutions that make life better for hardworking Vermonters.”
