WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Peter Welch (D-VT) today released the following statement applauding the bipartisan advancement of Michael Whitaker of Vermont, nominee for Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration, by the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science & Transportation:
“Michael Whitaker is immensely qualified to head the Federal Aviation Administration—not only because of his abilities behind the cockpit and his forward-thinking vision to lead with safety and sustainability in mind, but also because of his Vermont Values,” said Sen. Welch.
“Mike’s broad depth of experience will greatly benefit the FAA and those who travel our skies. It gives me great confidence in what he’ll accomplish as our next Administrator. I urge my colleagues in the Senate to join me in supporting his nomination on the Senate floor.”
Senator Welch is a member of the Senate Commerce Committee. He provided opening remarks in support of Mr. Whitaker, a fellow Vermonter, at his nomination hearing in early October.
