Welch Visits Small Businesses in Randolph Ahead of ‘Small Business Saturday’

Nov 21, 2023

RANDOLPH, VT – Ahead of Small Business Saturday, which takes place annually the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Senator Peter Welch (D-Vt.) toured Randolph small businesses and restaurants with Darcy Carter, Vermont’s District Director for the Small Business Administration (SBA).

On the tour of downtown Randolph on Monday, Sen. Welch and Ms. Carter toured Short Notice, a global from-scratch kitchen; Pixels & Bricks, a game store; Atlantic Art, Glass & Design, an art and design store; and New Moon on Main, a clothing and gift store.

“Vermont’s small businesses drive our local economies, create jobs, and importantly, give us a sense of pride in our communities. This holiday season, I’m urging folks across the state to shop small and support Vermont businesses. This investment in our own backyard pays off–it’s an investment in our friends, our neighbors, our fellow Vermonters,” said Sen. Welch. “So many of the businesses across the state were impacted by the floods this summer–there’s never been a better time to support local and shop small.”

According to the SBA, Vermont is home to nearly 77,000 small businesses, which employ nearly 156,000 Vermonters. Small Business Saturday is an initiative by SBA to celebrate and support small businesses ahead of the holiday shopping season.
