Welch Joins BETA Technologies for Official Opening of New Electric Aircraft Production Facility in South Burlington

Oct 2, 2023

SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT Senator Peter Welch (D-VT) today joined BETA Technologies workers and leadership including founder and CEO Kyle Clark, as well as Governor Phil Scott, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT), former Senator Patrick Leahy (D-VT), Mayor Miro Weinberger, and Chair of the South Burlington City Council Helen Riehle, for the official opening of BETA’s new state-of-the-art electric aircraft production facility in South Burlington.

“BETA’s forward-thinking approach to sustainable aviation has led to new jobs, new community partnerships, and investment in the Burlington area and all of Vermont. It’s also encouraging to see the total transformation of a 40-acre brownfield—from an unused stretch of land in need of redevelopment and cleanup, to a green-energy, net-zero, hub of economic and electric aviation activity,” said Sen. Welch. “I’m excited to celebrate the official opening of the production facility and look forward to seeing the new heights BETA will reach because of this new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.”

The net-zero facility, which was built on a transformed brownfield site, is designed to produce up to 300 electric aircrafts each year and create hundreds of jobs, accelerating decarbonization of the aviation sector with Vermont’s green electricity. Brownfield site redevelopments help conserve our environment and unlock new economic opportunities.
