FAIRLEE, VT – Today, U.S. Senator Peter Welch (D-Vt.) hosted a ‘Common Grounds with Senator Welch’ listening session at the Lake Morey Resort in Orange County. In Fairlee, the Senator joined local housing, economic development leaders and concerned Vermonters to discuss what more needs to be done to make central Vermont communities more affordable, climate resilient and healthier
“We’re facing a nationwide affordability crisis right now, and Vermonters are feeling the pain especially hard. I heard from folks today who are worried about how rising costs will make it harder to pay their bills–that’s a huge concern, and one we have to address urgently. Investing in rural development, small businesses, and affordable housing is absolutely essential to bringing down costs,” said Senator Welch. “I’m working hard in Washington to advance economic opportunity for folks in Fairlee and across our state.”
