Welch Visits Castleton Community Health Center, Commemorates National Public Health Week

Apr 4, 2023

CASTLETON, VT – Senator Peter Welch (D-VT) today visited Community Health Center in Castleton, VT, a primary care center serving Vermonters throughout Rutland County. Sen. Welch highlighted Community Health’s Diabetes Prevention Program and celebrated the Center’s community-based outreach programs.

His visit coincided with National Public Health Week, which celebrates the contributions of health care providers like Community Health. These providers are particularly essential in rural states like Vermont, where health care access is more limited and consistent access to primary care is vital.

“Vermont’s health care providers are the backbone of our communities,” said Sen. Welch. “I am delighted to join Castleton Community Health to learn more about the important work they do and discuss the critical role our health care providers play in Vermont and across the United States. During National Public Health Week and beyond, I will continue to do all I can to ensure Community Health and other providers working on the ground in Vermont have the federal resources they need to do their life-saving work in our communities.”

Sen. Welch was joined by Community Health Center CEO Mike Gardner, Chief Medical Officer Bradley Berryhill, Chair of the Board of Directors Bob Riley, and others. To learn more about Community Health, please click here.
