Inflation hit 4.2% as Middle East war drags on
Trump today in the Oval Office: “I love the inflation.”
WASHINGTON, D.C.—U.S. Senator Peter Welch (D-Vt.), a member of the Senate Finance Committee, released the following statement on new inflation data showing consumer prices are up for the third month, climbing to 4.2% as of today:
“President Trump’s reckless war with Iran and backwards economic policies are raising costs and making life more expensive for families in Vermont. Hardworking people are paying more for groceries and the essentials, gas, transportation, health care, housing, and so much more—yet when asked if he was concerned about this new data the president said, ‘No, I love it. I love the inflation.’…it’s totally outrageous,” said Senator Welch. “These inflation numbers should be a wake-up call: the American people are being stretched thin and need an economy that works for them.”
